Family engagement is the foundation of good practices that promotes the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families. Family engagement is a family-centered and strengths-based approach to fostering success at the individual and inclusive levels. Our efforts have included:
■ CCRC’s Home Visiting program works with parents to help their child reach his/her full potential. Parent educators work with parents to foster positive interactions and build skills in responding, designing and guiding, nurturing, and supporting learning and communicating. Parents are visited monthly and participate in group connections.
■ In many of our programs, we work to increase protective factors including parental resilience, social connections, and concrete support. Focuses include connecting parents with mental health, medical, jobs, training, and other community resources; transportation; access to diapers, car seats, strollers, clothing and furniture.
■ Parents are trained to advocate for their children, participate in supportive community meetings and events, volunteer in classrooms, collect child observations, and serve on CCRC’s Board of Directors.
